Kyaaa….I’m in love..truly in love with 49 Days, one of the best Korean Drama I ever watched. I also like Brilliant Legacy,Secret Garden, Prosecutor Princess, etc. It’s all about a sweet romance between the OTP’s. But there’s something special in 49 days, that urges me to write a blog about the drama. This drama doesn’t have a usual happy end (many people will think it such a tragic end, but I still categorize it as happy end). This 20 episodes drama taught me many things.

49 days is a story about a lady (Ji Hyun) who is being in a comatose because of car accident. She gets 49 days to collect 3 teardrops from 3 persons who loves her sincerely (besides her own family) to get alive. She must get the tears by using someone else’s body (Yi Kyung), and she mustn’t tell who she is. Her 49 days journey reveals many bitter truths about her life and her acquaintances. Her fiancée (Min Ho) was a jerk who just wants her inheritance, one of her best friend (In Jung) was working together with him to take all her wealth. Through those 49 days she finds out which friend is her true friend. The one (Han Kang) whom she thought hates her is in love with her and help her to accomplish the mission.
She almost gave up when she knew her best friend and fiancée betray her. She almost gave up when it felt nobody loves her sincerely. Well, in the middle of the story she changed her 49 days’ objective; from getting 3 sincere tears into helping her family to avoid bankruptcy that was caused by her fiancée. Her love for her family is her trigger to get through those 49 days. In the end, she got those 3 tears, woke up from her comatose, lived for 6 days, and then died. It seems unfair right? But there are many things that I learned and make the story become so sweet.
- Life is precious so Live your life to the fullest
Sometimes we’re living day by day without motivation and feel fed up with our lives. And there are many people choosing suicide as the way out from their problems, while the others are striving to keep alive. This story teaches us we mustn’t waste our lives. Do good to other while we’re still able, even in the end nobody will appreciate our deeds. We won’t have any privilege to have those 49 days in the real life to fix the unfinished things, so we must give the best shot while we’re still alive, coz….
- When the death comes we can’t run
In this story Ji Hyun had already conquered her 49 days, but still when the death comes, she can’t run. It seems unfair. But it shows us, no matter how hard you have strived for being alive, you couldn’t conquer death. This movie keeps telling that human can’t control Life and death.
This two lessons makes me remember an old proverb: Live everyday as if it were your last.
- Don’t judge the book by its cover
You never can guess what’s inside people’s heart. The one who you think is your friend might be your enemy, vice versa. But it doesn’t mean you need to live your life full of distrust.
- Gotta move on
Abandoned or left by our beloved ones is hard to be coped. But It doesn’t mean the time would stop to let us dwell in sorrow. Time keeps running, dwelling in sorrow would make the person who left us feels unease. So, we must move on and makes them proud.
- Choose to be Grateful all the time
Ji Hyun was betrayed, after getting the tears she died, but she didn’t blame anybody. She kept being thankful and enjoyed her last 6 days on earth. This is a quote which I got from dramabeans and I like it very much:
Ji-hyun: If I hadn’t gone on my 49 days’ journey, my father’s company would be in Kang Min-ho’s hands, and I wouldn’t be in my right mind from the trauma of being betrayed by my fiancé and friend. It’s possible that my fate was to commit suicide from that shock. But because of my 49 days, I was able to receive love from someone like Kang-ie. I was able to love. I was able to guard my father’s company. And I was able to look back on the life I had lived. I’m grateful actually, because if I hadn’t known anything and died, I would’ve lived a fake life until death.
Ji Hyun chose to be grateful and she always tried to see the positive sides from anything. Yi Kyung chose to live bitter since Yi Soo’s death, and she couldn’t enjoy her life and live lonely. These two OTPs teach us and show us how to live our lives better.^^
The ending is teary and heart wrenching. But for me it ends happily. Ji Hyun dies but before she dies she got a chance to put everything in its right place. Protect her family from bankruptcy, and gather her family with her long lost sister, show her friends what the meaning of friendship is. And when she dies, many people cry for her, even we don’t know which one is crying sincerely, but at least for the people around her, she touched their lives and made some impacts. Have we already make our lives worth to be remembered?
Haish..love this drama so muuuuuuucccccch…..
